Trip to Cherokee, NC

On Monday and Tuesday of this week we took a family trip to Cherokee, NC with our friends Trey and Cathy Wyatt. A tradition seems to be in the works because our two families have spent our last two years of anniversaries together. This year they were going to Harrahs and invited us along. They stayed at the Harrah's Casino and we stayed at The Ramada Limited. We chose the Ramada becuase it was a bit cheaper and it was advertised as right across the street from Harrah's. Apparently our definitions of right across the street are different, becuase our hotel was across the street from the outermost parking lot of Harrah's which is nowhere near the front door of the hotel or Casino. We did have fun there though being with friends. I lost every dollar I put in the machines and Trey managed to win $250 after about $5 of play on on a slot machine. We had dinner across the street at a little buffet and then called it a night. The next day we drove around Cherokee and went shopping we also went to "Pan fer Gold" to try out luck at panning. Elizabeth and I bought a bucket of emerald dirt and Trey and Cathy bought a bucket of ruby dirt. We panned all of our dirt in the water and came up with a dozen and half rough emeralds. We had a lot of fun doing that. Robert even helped in the panning process. After that we drove home but not be fore stopping a a small army navy store and then Hobby Lobby. At Hobby Lobby we bought a rock tumbler to shine up our find at the mine. All in All a great time although the Cherokee Casino is not kid friendly. Maybe in a couple years we can go back and go to Santa Land which a toddler or small child would really enjoy.
