Tribute to the Trebuchet
Several years ago, several people decided to get together and tackle the laws of physics and build a piece of medieval siege weaponry. The main people I recall are Danny, Jared, Aaron, Jay and I. Together we built a Trebuchet. (Actually we built two) We built one and it destroyed itself due to lack of steel supports. We went through a number of cross bars since they all kept bending under the enormous forces of the counter weight. We were able to finally build a sturdy cross bar that could handle the weight. We used the Weatherly back yard and held the First and Last Annual Trebuchet party. We launched everything from soda bottles, stones, computer monitors, and to Sean Weatherford's dismay a gallon of milk.

After the initial party the trebuchet stayed at the Weatherford house for some time before being moved back to our back yard where it continued to sit for its remaining years. The time finally came and I deemed the trebuchet unsafe to fire. The bottom was rotting and it was infested with termites. So I decided to give the Ole' Trebuchet a retirement on fitting for a piece of siege weaponry. It was sad and maybe one day I will build another. This trebuchet was great: It was fun to build, Fun to play with and ultimately fun to destroy.

Sad to see it go, but i am sure you are glad to have the space back in your yard. :)
That was the first night we got to meet Matt Orr.
